A defense-style protective iPhone 13 Pro case with a slim profile highlights the natural design of the iPhone well.
Cases seem to be a dime a dozen these days. You can find them everywhere for every phone model – even the newest ones. In fact, one of my favorite times of year is now iPhone release season because you get to see a bunch of new designs or redesigns of older cases. The best cases, in my opinion, are those that protect your phone and don’t impede the natural function or design of the phone. Catalyst has always done a great job of creating super protective cases that work with the design of the iPhone and I was excited to test out their Influence iPhone 13 Pro case.
DETAILS
The Influence iPhone 13 Pro case is a slim case with a 2.5X higher drop protection (10ft/3M – MIL-STD 810G) than military standards. The case comes with a free lanyard and the case is wireless charging and MagSafe compatible. The case is 100% fingerprint-proof and thanks to its ultra-slim design, the case doesn’t impede the function of the phone. The case only weighs 1.2 ounces and it’s easy to take on and off. Catalyst provides a 12-month manufacturer’s warranty. As an added benefit, the case also makes the iPhone 30% louder (than a naked phone) with unique forward audio. The case has several color options including Stealth Black, Clear, Pacific Blue, and Neon-Glow-in-the-Dark. Users also have the option of adding a colored button and lanyard set (color options include: Bondi Blue, Neon Yellow, Neon Pink, and Sunset Orange).

USER EXPERIENCE
The Influence iPhone 13 Pro case is packaged in a typical retail box. Catalyst has a nice, clean brand and the front of the box features the Catalyst logo and a couple of main details about the case. There is a transparent window that allows you to see the product inside, too. The back of the box has a couple of diagrams that highlight some features of the case as well as a QR Code that takes you to a video about the case. When you remove the case from the box, you will find the free lanyard housed in the cardboard inset above the case. I have the Neon-Glow-in-the-Dark version of the case and a plain black lanyard was shipped with it. I’m assuming that unless you order one of the colored button and lanyard sets (for an additional fee), that you will receive this standard black lanyard.
Installing the phone into the case is a little tougher than some cases, but it’s still pretty easy. I always start by placing the volume button side into the case first. Then I work the corners down around the phone until it pops into place on the sleep/wake button side of the phone. When you want to remove it, I’ve found that pressing into the camera system area helps to pop the phone out of that corner, and then the rest of the case is easily removed. I was able to install/remove the iPhone 13 Pro with no issues using this method. I like the way the case fits on the phone. All the ports/buttons are easily accessible and I really enjoy the instant mute switch feature. It’s very easy to twist the mute switch cover and have it mute/unmute your phone. It’s actually easier than flipping that switch with no case on it.
One of the features I have become the most concerned about with cases is the ability to use MagSafe compatible devices/accessories. Some cases claim to be wireless charging/MagSafe charging compatible, but then they do not work with certain accessories. The Influence iPhone 13 Pro case states that it is MagSafe compatible and so I tested it out with a MagSafe charging accessory. The phone clung to the magnetic charging surface and didn’t fall off. It also began charging as it should on that surface as well as the Qi Wireless Charging pad I tried out. So, I can easily say that the case is MagSafe compatible.
CONCLUSION
At $40 (at the time of publishing), I’m pretty happy with this case. It’s got a unique look to it and defense-style protection. This iPhone 13 Pro case may not be for everyone, but it works really well for those who are concerned about damage to your phone in everyday living.
