So good you’ll forget it’s an energy drink
I’ve been a big fan of energy drinks for a long time – especially one in a bright blue bottle. One day I was at my local grocery store to get a bottle of that particular drink and when I went to pick one up, I found they were sold out. At that point in time, I knew I needed some sort of pick me up, and that’s when I discovered UPTIME. It was light and had a fresh, fruity flavor to it that other energy drinks don’t. I’ve been a fan of it ever since that first chance encounter. At my local grocery store, they only have the Original Citrus flavor so when I was asked if I would be interested in checking out a different flavor, I was all about it.
DETAILS
UPTIME is currently owned by Ben and Carrie Kim. According to the UPTIME website, they never intended on owning an energy drink, but bought the business in 2012 when it was on the verge of closing. They have rebuilt the business from the ground up and have invested in the belief that UPTIME is the future of energy drinks. It is designed to keep users active, focused, and sharp. The drink is formulated to have fewer ingredients, but still deliver energy that stays with you throughout the day. The bottles are designed to be creative and modern so that they stand out on a shelf and they are resealable so that you can decide how much of the drink you want at one time. UPTIME is “designed with ingredients that are functional and not over formulated, non-GMO, with natural caffeine (green tea), natural flavors, and zero sodium.” There are two versions of the drink – Cane Sugar and Sugar-Free – and it’s lightly carbonated. Each UPTIME energy drink delivers 142mg of natural caffeine.

USER EXPERIENCE
As I mentioned above, I was approached to try out a variety of flavors from UPTIME. I received all the flavors except White Peach Lemonade. The Original Citrus and Blood Orange were the Cane Sugar version while the Mango Pineapple, Blueberry Pomegranate, Sweet Summer Melon, and Raspberry Lemon were all the Sugar-Free version of UPTIME. Each bottle is 12 fluid ounces and depending on the flavor, they have different calorie counts to them. All the bottles arrived in a single box meant for a 12-pack of the Blueberry Pomegranate flavor. Naturally, they were not chilled upon arrival so I placed them in our refrigerator. I do recommend drinking them chilled, by the way.
Since I was very familiar with the Original Citrus flavor, I set it aside and tried the Sweet Summer Melon first. It is definitely sweet and it has the refreshing taste of honeydew melon fruit and it’s now my new favorite. The carbonation almost makes it seem like you are drinking a soda, but it’s not heavy. My fiancé, who is not an energy drinker, gave it a try, too, and said it was much more enjoyable than Red Bull, which happens to be a favorite of mine. Even though she doesn’t drink energy drinks on a regular basis, she does have coffee on a daily basis. She said the energy she got from the UPTIME was different. “Coffee,” she said, “typically gets me going in the morning, but I always hit a slump after lunch.” She didn’t feel that same let-down from UPTIME. It also didn’t make her feel jittery or unstable at all.
As for me, the seasoned energy drinker, I felt a smooth pick-me-up after drinking it the first time. Some other energy drinks I enjoy simply because I like the taste (Red Bull and Bawls are examples of this), but I don’t end up getting that energy pick-up like I do from UPTIME. I also really like that the drink is naturally caffeinated with green tea. You will see on the bottle the word “L-Theanine.” This is the chemical that is derived from tea leaves that creates the natural caffeine in the drink. Both my fiancé and agree that we feel more energized longer after drinking UPTIME than when we drink other caffeinated beverages.
CONCLUSION
UPTIME is a wonderfully delicious energy drink. It’s naturally flavored and doesn’t have a lot of extra ingredients in it. The bottles are designed so that you don’t have to gulp down the drink in one sitting and they have amazing flavor options that other energy drinks don’t have. UPTIME is competitively priced at about $2.50 per bottle (if you purchase a 12-pack at $29.99).
