Change the way you clean your household items.
Over the past seven months, we’ve become obsessed with sanitizing everything that crosses the threshold into our home. This new process became a habit for us when our city reached a fever-pitch in late March and had a mandatory shut down due to the community health crisis surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19). Since that time, all our lives have changed, and keeping things clean and hopefully free of the virus is part of our new normal. In our home, we do more than just wipe objects down with sanitizing wipes and wash our hands for 20 seconds (or more) at a time. We also employ the help of sanitizing devices like the Coral 3 in 1 UV Sterilizer and Dryer. It uses UV-C technology to sterilize everyday items and because of its size, it can handle practically anything.
DETAILS
Coral 3 in 1 UV Sterilizer and Dryer is transforming the way people clean by sterilizing everyday objects like baby bottles, handheld gaming systems, plush toys, electronics, mobile phones, and more. UV-C light breaks down the original DNA and RNA sequence in the cell of a bacteria or virus. This process makes it impossible for the bacteria or virus to be able to function or reproduce. Therefore, it dies. The Coral sterilizer has two UV-C lights that provide double sterilization strength. The Coral sterilizer has been proven to eliminate E. Coli, Salmonella, and Staph as well as many other illnesses.
In addition to being an efficient sanitizer, the Coral unit also has a built-in dryer so that you can dry items with or without sterilizing them. The device is safe to use on baby items and comes with a child safety switch that automatically shuts the unit off to prevent any unwanted UV ray exposure. The sterilizer has a very large capacity and can fit up to six baby bottles.
Double Disinfection Strength: Uses 2 Philips UV-C lamps with the best in class quality. Most countertop-sized UV sanitizers use only 1 bulb which is half of the disinfection strength we use. |
Reflective Inside Body: Highly reflective and durable SUS 304 stainless steel ensures UV light reaches every corner of the inside body. |
Third-Party Lab Tested: Eliminate 99.9% of germs that linger on your items in 10 minutes with a proven independent lab test report. |

USER EXPERIENCE
One the things I like about this device straight off the bat is its easy set-up. The sanitizer is ready to work out of the box. There is no assembly required for use of the product. In fact, the only thing the user is instructed to do prior to the device’s first use is to wipe out the interior of the sanitizer and then run a STERILIZE + DRY cycle. The Sterilizer does have a HEPA filter included as part of the device and that must be replaced every 3 months (depending on use). The UV bulbs have to be replaced every 12 months and the interior should be wiped out after every use.
The compartment is large enough to fit pretty much anything you might need to cleanse. We were able to fit a Nintendo Switch, wireless gaming headphones, and an X-Box controller inside and there was still some room left. Even though Coral states that you can use this product to sterilize nearly anything, it does caution that you should not use the dry cycle on electronics. The manual also states that products that cannot withstand moderate UV exposure should not be placed inside the sterilizer for cleaning.
To test the sterilizer out, I placed a cup that had recently been washed into the bin. The cup was still wet so I chose the STERILIZE + DRY setting and chose a 40-minute cycle. The manual indicates that when you choose this setting the first 10 minutes is the UV-C sterilization and then the remainder of the time is spent drying the item. When the cycle was finished the sterilizer set off a beeping noise and I pressed the button on the front to release the lid. I pulled the cup and its lid out of the unit and found that they were not only 100% dry, but they were also warm. It wasn’t hot to the touch, but definitely warm.
We have used other UV-C sanitation devices in the past and in general, we like the operation of them all. It’s rather simple. You place your device inside the unit and the cleaning session either begins when you close a lid or press a button. The same is true of this device, but you actually have a countdown timer on the outside of the sterilizer so that you know exactly how long is left on the cycle. The other feature I really love about this particular sanitizing device is its size. The large interior makes it possible to cleanse items that we’ve been desperately needing to sanitize, but just didn’t have the right sized cleaner to get the job done. One such item is the hose that comes along with a portable oxygen tank. My fiancé’s grandmother lives with us and she has COPD. Therefore, she has supplemental oxygen that she uses on a daily basis. We are provided with multiple tubes to swap out periodically, but we really like to clean them and now we can sterilize them, too, before putting them back into use.
When we’ve tested other sanitizing devices, we’ve had the opportunity to analyze the effects of UV-C light sanitation by taking swab samples of electronics (iPhone and Apple Watch) before the device went into the sanitizer and then after. Unfortunately, we did not have access to the lab while completing a test run of the Coral 3 in 1 UV Sterilizer and Dryer, but the example that is shown in this review of a competing product proves just how well UV-C light can sterilize an object.
CONCLUSION
The 3 in 1 UV Sterilizer and Dryer by Coral is a nicely designed product. I really didn’t find any flaws with its operation, set-up, or pricing. It seems to do what it claims to do and because it doesn’t require any assembly and has very low maintenance requirements, I can recommend it as an option for being able to sterilize household objects.
