A great daily commuter backpack.
On a daily basis, I carry around my 13-inch MacBook Pro, 10-inch iPad Pro, some paperwork, accessories, and cables. I travel back and forth to work multiple times a day and so I need something that keeps everything safe and well-organized. When I outgrew my last backpack, I decided to check out what SOLO had to offer and I found the Lexington Commuter Backpack.
DETAILS
This backpack — like others from SOLO — is named after an exclusive New York neighborhood. In this case, it’s part of the Gramercy Collection named after Gramercy Park. Its design is modeled after the ‘stately architecture’ of NYC. The backpack features a fully padded laptop compartment that will fit up to a 17.3-inch computer. There is also an internal tablet pocket. The front zippered pocket has an organizer section complete with key clip and pen slots. While the exterior of the bag is black, the interior has a discrete business lining. The backpack has four large side pockets with zippered closures and the back panel slides over a luggage handle easily. The back of the bag is padded and has padded straps for comfort. The backpack is 18.5 x 16.54 x 4.33 inches in size and weighs 3.31 pounds.
USER EXPERIENCE
This backpack quickly became a ‘daily driver’ for me. I was immediately taken with its classic style and loved how it could be used for personal or professional use. It has a lot of storage compartments, which is great for me because I carry cables for every type of use on a regular basis. The pockets gave me a great way to keep all the smaller accessories I carry with me organized.
I use this backpack mostly for transporting my laptop (and other gear) back and forth to work. I found that the laptop compartment is plenty large for my 13-inch MacBook Pro even when I have an extra sleeve protecting it or a case on it. The padding is sufficient and I’ve not had any problems with the laptop being secure or safe in the backpack.
I have used this as a daily work bag as well as a school bag that holds my notebook and textbooks along with my laptop and tech gear. Even though it added weight to the bag, the Lexington Commuter Backpack distributes the weight really well. I actually suffer from daily back pain and carrying a heavy backpack can really hinder my pain relief. I haven’t had a problem using the Lexington backpack at all.
CONCLUSION
I am very happy using the Lexington. It’s been a great daily pack for me. I don’t have to worry about my cables getting tangled up because I can store them in each of the pockets. The backpack is sturdy and very easy to carry from place to place.
