Enhanced grip and easy to deploy hands-free viewing experience
If you have not yet perused my review of the Stand & Grip Case from Clckr, I would highly encourage you to give it a quick read. I love my iPhone and often gravitate toward the Catalyst Waterproof cases. When I reviewed the Clckr case, I realized that I loved all of the features of the catalyst case but missed the stand features of the Clckr device. Luckily, the company creates just a device to give me the best of both worlds. The Stand & Grip Case from clckr arrived in a 3 5/16 inches wide by 7 1/16 inches tall cardboard hanging card. The main panel provided the clckr name along the top right of the panel, the “STAND & GRIP” title along the top panel, and six icons surrounding the centrally located grip-stand (Portrait, Landscape, Drop Prevention & Grip, Clicks Back Into Place, Antimicrobial Protection, and Wireless Charging Compatible). At the top left of the Stand & Grip device, you will find instructions to “Pull to Grip” and then “Click to Stand” along the top right. When it comes to product packaging, clckr completed their homework by designing a functional and playful experience. The outer cardboard shell acted as a large phone and allowed me to understand the grip feature and the vertical and landscape kickstand. The top section instructed the user to pull outward from the case, and the opposite side instructed the user to create the stand. I loved that the packaging allowed me to test the device before installing it onto my phone fully. Honestly, the only thing missing from the new toy was a little vibrant “try me” arrow hidden somewhere in the packaging.
Although less fulfilling than the youthful/fun front surface, the rear panel got to work detailing the features. similar to the front panel, the clckr name and product name were listed along the top of the panel. Beneath the title, you will an upper instructional section and a lower legalese section. The top half walked you through a “HOW TO ATTACH” section ( Simply stick the CLCKR to your device or phone case. If your device has a glass back, uses the clear sticker included) in both English and French. Just beneath these sections, you will find a five-diagram, bilingual, “HOW TO USE” section (Pull to open until you hear the reassuring click, while open, use as a grip, Fold and press both sides into the case until they click, Use the phone in landscape or vertical (portrait mode). Lastly, the bottom section of the panel detailed copyright information, information about the 1-year warranty, SKU barcodes, and relayed that the packaging was made from 100% recycled products.
To access the 0.5-ounce Stand & Grip case, you can either slit the ribbon along the side of the device or remove the sticky section from the back. The accordion-style instruction manual was affixed to the back of the device and pulled outward as I tried to remove the device. The instructions were divided into a front-sided Application section and a rear-sided usage/function and removal section. Before you install the 1 5/16 inches wide by 3 3/4 inches tall device, you will need to decide if you will apply the grip-stand to a phone or to a case. If the phone back is made of glass, you will need to clean the surface and then apply the included 1 3/8 inches wide by 4 1/8 inches tall, clear plastic film to the back of your phone. When ready, clean the surface of the phone or case, remove the protective layer over the rear adhesive, position the grip near the bottom of your phone, orient it toward the midline, and then apply pressure for 1 minute. Once you have pressed the device into the back of the phone for the full minute, gently pull on the grip to test the adherence to the case/phone. You can undo the installation process if needed, and the Stand & Grip attachment can be removed. The instructions recommended avoiding application/withdrawal of the stand due to risks of reduced adherence to the case. If needed, slide your fingernail under the surface and carefully lift the stand away. The adhesive should not leave behind any trace of glue.
To use the grip feature, you can slide a finger into the top of the device and pull downward. The lateral plastic connectors should click, and the rear section should pull away from the affixed base. With the strap in the open position, you can slide 3-4 fingers into the loop. I found that three fingers fit easily within the strap, but my pinky was just a bit too thick to fit into the strap comfortably. The enhanced grip proved to be rather useful and added a nice feature to longer calls by reducing the need to grip the phone. When done, I pressed both sides until the case provided an audible snap back into the closed position. While in the closed position, I inserted my phone into my Nite-Ize holster, into a pocket, into a backpack, and the retracted accessory did not catch on anything. Once the stand was in the open position, I was able to fold it down and press both sides of the case into the holding slots. Again, the feature provided a reassuring yet secure audible/palpable click. The stand created a 2 inches long (phone case side) by 2 1/4 inches long (outer edge) by 1 1/2 inches long (base) triangle. By positioning the Stand in the middle of the phone and towards the bottom, it created a stable stand for vertical and horizontal viewing.
I loved the easy installation process and the secure grip of the clckr device. Additionally, the ability to use the phone in both vertical and landscape modes was a huge benefit. If you are looking for a Stand & Grip attachment device, look to clckr to provide an inexpensive option. The device ordinarily sells for $14.99 on their website. However, with Memorial Weekend approaching, they have reduced the price to an astonishing $11.24. For this price, it feels that the company is nearly giving them away.
